Who We Are

Valentine Music was founded in 1972 by John Nice and Pat Seward. We manage a diverse catalogue spanning jazz, bluegrass, orchestral, soul, and military band music. Noteworthy relationships include exclusive licensing in most of the world for Dave Brubeck’s jazz catalogue, including classics like Time Out (featuring “Take Five” and “Blue Rondo A La Turk”) and “Unsquare Dance” from Dave’s follow up album Time Further Out.

As well as our work with the Brubeck family, we handle The Ventures’ surf guitar hits like “Walk, Don’t Run” and our military band collection includes “New Colonial” (R.B. Hall), featured in Elizabeth II’s funeral proceedings, as well as other highly sought after arrangements. Another gem in Valentine Music’s repertoire is Frank Mills’ instrumental hit “Music Box Dancer”, which has a particularly keen audience in Japan.

Blending tradition and innovation, Valentine Music curates a high-quality, diverse catalogue of music (with a strong focus on jazz), while utilising music recognition technology and cutting edge royalty management software to maximise revenue collections for our clients. We manage a robust sub-publishing network, giving us global reach and effective rights management across the world.
